+ Alan Carson - General Manager
Allan’s background is in the Building Services Industry where he was in Business Development and Operational Management before getting involved with The Hub. Allan was responsible for the asset transfer of the facility from CEC to Queensferry Rugby Club originally and then as the project grew arms and legs he was instrumental in forming Queensferry Sports and Community Hub which is a (not for profit) Sports Social Enterprise charity. After running the project for 2 years on a voluntary basis, with the help of a revenue grant fund from the Robertson Trust, Allan gave up his career in the Building Services Industry to run The Hub on a full time basis. Allan now reports to a Board of Trustees who are volunteers and are from a range of business sectors. The B.O.T’s offer support and guidance as well as taking on some of the legal and compliance responsibilities of the charity.
+ Alan Donaldson - Trustee Chairman
Alan is a Queensferry lad being born in Edinburgh and moving to South Queensferry at 6 months old.
Alan’s career has allowed him to see the world as a design engineer, project manager and senior director of multi national IT companies. The skills attained during his 40 year career are readily transferred to his role trustee chairman . Alan is passionate about sport within the community and its ability to deliver inclusivity and self worth.
+ Alastair Rarity - Trustee
Born & bred in Kirkliston. Excelled in Technology, Arts and Science at school. Studied Mechanical Engineering at Napier and continued studies and experience in a number of disciplines including Design Engineering, Plant Engineering, Art/ Architecture, Energy management, Building Services, Facilities & Property management etc. Worked in a number of senior management positions with US corporations over forty five years including the largest portion with Johnson & Johnson. Achieved chartered Engineer status MIEE, MBIFM. Promoted to Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Head of Facilities as part of an Operations management team. Chairman of Edinburgh Managers group and Chairman of the charity “Ethicon in the community”. Managed a community and product sponsorship for Kirkliston & Drambuie for sixteen years until 2006. Active member of South Queensferry Rotary and Queensferry care of various charity projects and committees. Currently supporting Hopetoun House trust as a guide.
Other interests – active member of Blackrock Mountaineering club, Art & Design, rugby support, global travel, mountain biking & property management.
+ Ed Kelly - Trustee Secretary
Ed is a (very) recently retired architect who ran his own business in South Queensferry and Linlithgow. Prior to that Ed worked overseas in Africa for several years as an architect and laterally as the Construction Manager of a German company. Ed is born and bred in South Queensferry – his mother was the local District Nurse and his father was a local photographer and news reporter. Ed has been resident in South Queensferry for the last 25 years and has been involved with the Queensferry Association, Queensferry Community Council, South Queensferry Bid and the Rotary Club of South Queensferry.
+ Chris Connor - Trustee Treasurer
Chris, his wife Catherine and dog Rua have lived in Queensferry for three years now. Chris went to The University of Edinburgh, where he received a MA (Hons) in Economics and Economic History. He is a professional equity investor and a CFA Charter holder. He is currently Head of North America at Martin Currie Investment Management in Edinburgh. In his spare time Chris enjoys walking the dog (to one of Queensferry’s wonderful pubs), playing football to a terrible standard and watching football on TV at an expert level.
